From new liveries to groundbreaking team personal changes, here's everything that's gone down in the build-up to the 2024 Formula One Miami Grand Prix.

Special liveries, a big change in personnel that is not a driver - things certainly look interesting as the Formula One fraternity makes station in Florida for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

Adrian Newey Leaves Red Bull Racing

The big news emerging in the build-up to Miami is Adrian Newey leaving his beloved Red Bull. The team have officially exited talks with Newey to retain him for 2025. There is no solid evidence of what Newey will do next, however, Ferrari has certainly thrown their proverbial hat in the ring.

Newey-designed Formula One cars have won a title with every engine on the current grid bar one. The only exception? Ferrari.

Newey joined the team in 2006 and has been at the forefront of all Red Bull World Championship-winning cars. In 2024, however, he is seeking new challenges, whether that be at Ferrari or a new field entirely.

New Liveries

Special one-race liveries have been emerging left right and centre in the build-up to the Miami Grand Prix this weekend. Ferrari started the trend off by announcing their blue livery. Visa Cash App Red Bull then dropped their 'chameleon' style design.

Ferrari's livery has been met with mixed reviews. The rumour was that the entire car would be blue, a first for Ferrari as a works team - for two races in 1964, there were blue-and-white Ferraris on the grid, but entered officially by NART. After Enzo Ferrari pulled his team from those two races due to an argument with the FIA, North American Racing Team entered John Surtees' and Lorenzo Bandini's cars instead.

Meanwhile in 2024, the merchandise ahead of Miami is baby blue, and affiliated brands had marketing material that hinted at an all-blue car. However, it was not to be.

Visa Cash App Red Bull's livery, however... WOW. A great reception from the majority of F1 fans online, this is one-off livery certainly turned heads. The varying colours and flowing angles of the shapes work well with the shape of the car. It is not a completely overhauled livery though. The top of the car has stayed the same, but it is always good to stick to the saying, 'If it isn't broken, don't fix it'.

FIA announced Mercedes were singled out for F1 inspection

Miami is hosting its first-ever sprint weekend in the track's short three-year history this weekend. One team especially that will be looking to capitalise is Mercedes.

After a fairly poor start to the season, the team from Brackley need a strong performance in Miami. Performance upgrades to the car for the weekend are looking promising. However, Mercedes were subjected to an extensive physical inspection of George Russell's car after the Brit finished sixth in China.

The components tested included brake circuits and brake pressure distribution, brake pressure modulation, the rear brake control system including all attached sensors, their loom routing and connections to the SECU and other units and its fail-safe mode.

All parts checked were deemed legal and compliant, but with the team struggling behind the front runners, an in-depth check like that could potentially derail the team's progress with any new upgrades that could be brought to the car. Miami is a critical race weekend for the Silver Arrows.

Fantastic job by lando, and incredible race!! hope to see other races like this soon and a good battle among max, the mclarens, the ferraris, why not others too!! Fantastic race!!

Lando! Lando! Finally.
Let's see where his next party injury will end up on him tomorrow.
Hopefully that McLaren goes around corners like this weekend on the next round in Imola
Than RB needs to step up their game a bit.
As Imola is also not a real highspeed RB track and a bit narrow.
We could be in for some more papaya fireworks.
There was so much going on this race, action on all levels.

Might as well shut down the rest of the season. clearly Lando will win the rest of the races with this obviously illegal car and team tactics. Max, Jean, Lewis, Carlos...give in to the inevitable.

Just because the usual suspect did not win does not make this a great race. It was still a car getting away effortlessly at the front, but with different colours.
lol you gotta be kidding me, there's been 200 fantastic fights and overtakes for every single position throughout the entire race, incidents, safety car, everything.

The expectations and standards of rabid F1 fans regarding what a great race is and what constitutes a "fantastic fight" get lower each year. As somebody who cares about motorsport history, both long time ago and not so long, and tries to not forget, I'm not easily swayed.

2022 races before TD39 were much better than this, and that's saying something.

LOL one of the most awesome races ever LOL did you spell it properly?yep, that should do it.
Uh...... you obviously haven't seen many F1 races. That race wasn't even close to being one of the "most awesome races ever". You need to watch F1 more than 2 years to say something like that.

Who do I support? It's a sad commentary that I only recognize three or four names on the list, but in general I say "anybody but Red Bull".

So today's race wasn't bad. True it was on another modern cookie-cutter F1 track, true the production is like a Las Vegas show, but the on-track action was good. (It is odd how nice the cars sound from the trackside mikes and how odious they sound from the cockpit mikes.)

Now I wonder how long before we get to see another F1 race on TV in this country.

wasn't even close to being one of the "most awesome races ever"

Quite subjective of course, but F1 has yet to match the 1971 Monza race. Peter Gethin, who never led a lap in F1, entered the last lap in 4th place and won by 0.01 second over Ronnie Peterson; the fifth place car was only 0.061 second back. None of the top five had ever won an F1 race and it was Gethin’s only F1 win.

Monaco in '96 was an odd one; the race was stopped at the two hour time limit, with only four cars still running. The only win for Panis, and Ligier's last win.

It's difficult to imagine either situation in modern F1.
